South Carolina hosts diverse butterflies, including the state butterfly, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and migrants like the Monarch, seen on the Lowcountry islands in fall; common sightings also include the orange Gulf Fritillary, Cloudless Sulphur, and Palamedes Swallowtail.
