Information about the African Lion:
Lions are the second largest living cats on earth, behind the tiger. Unlike other cats lions are social and live in ‘prides’ which generally consist of some related females, offspring and a small number of adult males. The African Lion lives in the savanna grasslands of the sub-Saharan regions of Africa. Despite their reputation, lion attacks on people are not common.

Description
Fine art illustration of an African Lion (Panthera leo.) The illustration is available in color or black & white.
Artist’s notes:
The African Lion was completed on 9.2008. The illustration was a ‘do-over’ from an earlier drawing, although I believe the first drawing was actually an Asiatic Lion. The older drawing showed the lion lying down and the mane wasn’t very pronounced. I decided that I wanted the lion’s mane to be very prominent in the drawing, which I think it is here. I love the lion’s face and the quiet but formidable power his expression conveys.
