Salamanders and Newts of the World

Salamanders are carnivores that feed on mostly on small invertebrates. Both have moist skin, must stay hydrated, and differ from lizards but share features like regenerative abilities. Salamanders varying wildly from The Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) reaching nearly 6 feet (1.8m) long, while some minute salamanders (Thorius arboreus for example) are among the smallest, measuring as little as 16mm (about 0.6 inches) long.
