Western Rattlesnake Poster
The Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus) – also called the Northern Pacific Rattlesnake – is a venomous pit viper found in the southwestern United States and Mexico. Like other rattlesnakes, these reptiles are ambush predators and use heat-sensing pits in the front of their faces to locate prey. They inject venom to immobilize prey before swallowing it whole.
