The African Crowned Eagle – also called the Crowned Hawk-Eagle – is a large bird of prey found in sub-Saharan Africa. Its preferred habitats are principally riparian woodlands and various forests. At least 90 per cent are mammals, such as small ungulates, rock hyrax and small primates like monkeys. Due to a relatively high level of habitat adaptability, it was until recently considered to be faring well by the standards of large, forest-dependent raptors. However, today it is generally thought that it is decreasing far more than was previously perceived due to the almost epidemic destruction of native tropical African forest. It is now listed as Near Threatened.

Information about the African Wild Dog:
The African Wild Dog, also called the African Hunting Dog, Spotted Dog and Painted Wolf, is found only in Africa. It inhabits scrub savanna and other areas not heavily wooded. The canine has a beautiful coat of tan, black and white and each pattern is unique. They are medium sized dogs generally weighing between 40-75 pounds and standing at 30 inches at the shoulder. Like wolves the wild dog hunts in packs with nearly all of the members participating. They feed mostly on large savanna animals such as Wildebeest and Zebras. It is the only species of Lycaon. The African Wild Dog’s conservation status is endangered.

The Alaskan Malamute is a large breed of dog and member of the Spitz group – which are are a type of dog generally characterized by long, thick, and often white fur, and pointed ears and muzzles. The tails of these dogs are very distinctive as they are usually curled over the dog’s back. Malamutes are commonly used to pull sleds and haul loads in the cold, snowy wastes of Alaska. While they do look similar to the Siberian Husky, they are very different dogs with distinctive personalities, anatomy and size. Their names come from a tribe of Inuit that lived in the upper western areas of Alaska. Their names were the Mahlemut. The dogs were used for a variety of purposes, such as hunting, pulling large loads, sledding and protection. It is the official state dog of Alaska.

American Alligators are native to the Southeastern United States. Generally these albino morphs are found only in zoos and aquariums, as they rarely survive in the wild. Adult American Alligators males can reach up to 13 to 14.7 feet long. The largest recorded American Alligator was nearly 19 feet long. These reptiles generally are not considered dangerous, but they are able to (and have) killed human for prey, but in usually they’re wary of them and will avoid contact slipping into the water as they are approached.

They can be found in murky, backwater swamps and slow moving waters. Inside the turtle’s mouth is has a built-in lure, which is a fleshy appendage it dangles while it sits motionless to attract fish. When a fish comes close enough it snaps its mouth shut with tremendous speed and force. Because of this formidable mouth which has been known to break fingers and cause other injuries they should be handled with extreme care or avoided all together if possible.

Information about the Allosaurus:
The Allosaurus is an extinct dinosaur and member of the family Allosauridae. It was one of the first theropod dinosaurs to be discovered. Much of the fossil record comes from North American specimens, but some have also been found in Portugal. Allosaurus lived in the Mesozoic era, likely in the late Jurassic period, between about 154 and 115 million years ago. It was a very large predatory animal, reaching a height of about 28 feet (8.5 meters) and there is some fragmentary evidence that it could have been even larger – perhaps up to 40 feet (12 meters) The Allosaurus had an impressive set of large, sharp teeth. Like much dinosaur behavior, it is up to some speculation and conjecture as to how these large meat-eating animals hunted, but some paleontologists believe they might have hunted in packs, running down and attacking larger prey that they couldn’t have brought down alone.

Information about the Alpine Chamois:
The Alpine Chamois is a member of the Bovidae family. It is native to the mountainous regions in Europe, including the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, the European Alps, the Tatra Mountains, the Balkans, parts of Turkey, and the Caucasus. It had also been successfully introduced into New Zealand’s south island. They live at moderately high altitudes and are adapted to living in precipitous, rugged, rocky terrain. These ungulates are found at elevations of at least 11,800 ft (3,600 m). In Europe, Chamois spend their summers above the treeline in meadows. A fully grown chamois reaches a height of about 28–31 inches (70–80 cm) and measures 42–54 in (107–137 cm) long. Males are slightly heavier and larger than the females (66–130 lb) (30–60 kg). Females weigh 55–99 lb (25–45 kg ). Both males and females have short, horns which are mostly straight but hooked backwards near the tip. Males have thicker horns.

The Altum Angelfish – sometimes called the Deep Angelfish or Orinoco Angelfish – is a variety of freshwater fish and a member of the cichlid family. It is the largest of the genus and a very popular and common aquarium fish. In the wild, this angelfish can be found in the Orinoco River Basin and the Upper Rio Negro watershed in Southern Venezuela, Southeastern Colombia and extreme Northern Brazil. It is not believed to occur anywhere else. Angelfish are ambush predators and feed on small fish and very small invertebrates. Like all of the genus Pterophyllum these fish choose a partner and form monogamous couples.
