Aldabra Tortoise – Signed Fine Art Print

Artist’s notes:

This drawing is based on photos and sketches I did at the Phoenix Zoo. The line art version was completed in 2003 and the digital tinting added in 2007. While typical Aldabra Tortoise are usually all gray, the one I worked from had this pinkish hue on it. Here’s the original photo I worked from. The illustration was used for the information sign in the new Aldabra tortoise exhibit in the Dallas Zoo. I had spoken to a naturalist in the Seychelles about using this image for a limited set of prints of the native animals of the island. After a massive Tsunami hit the island, I never heard from him again.
