Hyacinth Macaw is a is a parrot native to central and eastern South America. With a length from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail 3.3 feet (100 cm) it is the longest species of parrot. It is also the largest macaw. The birds have very strong beaks for eating the kernels of hard nuts and seeds. Their strong beaks are even able to crack coconuts, the large brazil nut pods, and macadamia nuts. The birds also boast dry, smooth tongues with a bone inside them that makes them an effective tool for tapping into fruits. Due to habitat loss and illegal collecting for the pet trade, this parrot is increasingly endangered. The Maned wolf is the largest member of the family Canidae found in South America. They are not closely related to any other living canid, and are not technically a wolf. Neither are they a fox, jackal, coyote or dog. Their habitat includes semi-open grassy areas with scattered trees and bushes. Unlike other wolves, Maned Wolfs do not form packs, and they generally hunt alone. They feed on small mammals, lizards, birds and fish.
