The American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) is the smallest and most widespread falcon in North America, known for its colorful plumage and adaptability to habitats like grasslands, urban areas, and farms. They have a varied diet of insects, small rodents, and small birds. They have a fairly short lifespan in the wild, averaging just over 3 years, but can live up to 17 years in captivity. Unlike many raptors, males and females have distinct coloration, with males having bluish-gray wings and females having reddish-brown wings.
