Animals of Madagascar Poster

The island of Madagascar off the east coast of southern African is the 4th largest island on earth. It is considered a premier biodiversity hotspot where 85-90% of wildlife is endemic, having evolved in isolation for millions of years. The island is famous for over 100 species of lemurs, the predatory fossa, numerous chameleon species (50% of the world’s total), and unique reptiles like leaf-tailed geckos. While the island is only 587,041 square kilometers (226,658 sq mi), (roughly the size of Texas) it boast a wide range of natural environments, including rainforests, spiny forests, and extensive coral reefs.
