Barbary Macaque – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Barbary Macaque:
The Barbary Macaque – also called the Barbary Ape or Magot – is a species of primate native to the forests of the Atlas Mountains of Algeria and Morocco and El-Kouf National Park in Libya. There are also populations in Gibraltar and in Asia. The Barbary Macaque is the only species of macaque found outside of Asia. Their diet is a mixture of insects and vegetable matter. They are preyed upon by leopards, eagles and domestic feral dogs. Due a number of factors, the wild population of the Barbary Macaque has dwindled down to just a few thousand in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Artist’s notes:
The Barbary Macaque was completed on 5.8.2014. A few months ago, I was contact by a young boy in Australia named Eden who had taken an interest in my illustrations. I appreciated how he had taken the time to explore my site. He knew more about animals at his young age than I do at my current age. The drawing is based on a photo by Ellen van Yperen and was used with permission.
