Fine art illustration of a Bog Turtle (Glyptemys muhlenbergii.)
Artist’s notes:
The Bog Turtle was completed on 10.16.09. It was the second attempt at these rendering the species. These tiny turtles are very beautiful and, like many others of their kind, have the uncanny trait that makes them seem as though they’re smiling. The particular model I used for this drawing had a lovely duo-tone shell of copper-brown and black. Some bog turtles have much more uniformly dark colored shells with little contrast. The drawing is based on a photo by Raul G.
