New Jersey is home to about 125 butterfly species, including the official state butterfly: the Black Swallowtail. There are many other species native to the state including the Monarch, swallowtails, fritillaries and sulphurs. These insects are crucial pollinators and can be found statewide in fields, gardens, and roadsides.
