Butterflies of Virginia Poster Print

Virginia hosts around 170 butterfly species, including the iconic Eastern Tiger Swallowtail which is also the state insect. Other types of butterflies include sulphurs, brushfoots, and skippers. These insects are commonly seen from spring to fall, especially in diverse habitats like mountains and coasts. While many of the populations are stable, the butterflies of Virginia face many threats, such the over use of  pesticide use and habitat loss.
