Chinstrap Penguin – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Chinstrap Penguin:
The Chinstrap Penguin is an semi-aquatic bird native to the South Sandwich Islands in the Antarctic Ocean. Their name is derived from the distinctive stripe that circles their heads. They are also called Ringed, Bearded and Stonecracker Penguins. They usually grow to be about 27 inches tall (68 centimeters) and weigh about 13 pounds (6 kilograms.) The penguins live on barren rocky shores and ice flows, feeding on krill, shrimp and fish. Their main predator are Leopard Seals, which hunt them as they move around from water to land. They are one of the most numerous of the penguins, with an estimated population between 12-14 million.

Artist’s notes:
The Chinstrap Penguin was completed on 9.1.2012. So, the last drawing I did of a penguin – a Galapagos Penguin – I thought would be my last drawing for some time. But when I put together a collage of penguin drawing I realized seven images just wouldn’t work – I had to add an eighth. I had wanted to draw a Chinstrap for some time, so I thought it would make a nice addition to the image gallery. The drawing is based on a photo by Jim Wilson
