Fine art illustration of a Blotched Fantail Ray (Taeniura meyeni.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
The Blotched Fantail Ray was completed on 10.14.2013. A few weeks ago I decided to create a collage of animals native to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. What I enjoy about researching the collages I create is that is makes me do research into ecosystems I know very little about, apart from what I’ve picked up over the years. I selected several underwater animals I thought best represented the diversity of life there, including many I will have to create drawings of – and of them was this wonderful fantail ray. My wife said the ray’s surface looked like chocolate chips. The drawing is based on a photo by Le Congre and was used with his permission.
