European Praying Mantis – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Praying Mantis:
Praying Mantis grow to be about 3 inches with a large head and abdomen. They have a pair of large forelegs that are serrated and spiny and folded back like a pocket knife. They hold their forelegs up in a praying position to grab prey. Adult males are smaller and more slender than females, and have longer wings. Praying mantids are highly predacious and feed on a variety of insects, including famously the females on the males after mating. They are the only insect that can turn its head.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The European Praying Mantis was completed on 3.10.2011. I had been meaning to add this insect to the image library for some time. I believe I had misidentified a Stagmomantis Californica as a Mantis religiosa. Any professional or amateur entomologists, please feel free to correct me ! The drawing is based on a photo by Alice Abela.
