Artist’s notes:
The Kamehameha Butterfly was completed on 2.8.2013. I had completed, I thought, all the official animals of the state of Hawaii. Turns out the information I was working from is a few years old, as the Kamehameha Butterfly was selected as the official butterfly of Hawaii in 2009. I also ran into some problems when I realized the reference photo I was working from was from a similar but different species native to South America.
