Polar Bears are marine mammals. ground. The bears will travel as much as 800 miles as the ice melts and freezes. During summer bears may remain on islands or coastlines with landfast ice, drift on ice flows, or get stranded on land where they are forced to endure warm weather. The bears can grow to 10 feet tall. Males can weight up to 1700 pounds, with females smaller.

Artist’s notes:
This is a very early drawing completed while living in Germany in 1998. The digital tinting was added in 2007. It’s always a little tricky trying to draw a white animal using a black medium, but I think the image turned out pretty solid.
