Artist’s notes:
The Variegated Fritillary was completed on 1.4.2014. I enjoy drawing butterflies very much, and when I decided to draw a collection of butterflies native to North America. I love the coloration of this butterfly, with the subtle shades of yellow, gold and orange bordered by a dark brown and black. The drawing is based on a photo by Vicki DeLoach and was used with her permission.
