American Avocet – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the American Avocet:
The American Avocet is a large, long-legged wader or shorebird found throughout much of North America (mostly in western parts) down through Mexico where they winter. It has a very distinctive bill which is upturned. They are in the same birds family as stilts. Avocets prefer shallow fresh, saline or brackish ponds, beaches, mud flats and marshes where they forage for small crustaceans, insects and occasionally small fish and vegetable matter.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of an American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The American Avocet was completed on 5.25.2010. It seems whenever I do a batch of animals, there has to be at least one. I suppose I like them so much as they’re often encountered on my hikes. The avocet is pretty common in the Bay area marshes, and I really like the coloring too. The drawing is based on a photo by Bill Bouton.
