The Fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox) is a carnivorous mammal native to the island of Madagascar in Africa. While they may appear to be related to either a cat or a dog, their closest living relative is the African mongoose. The fossa’s species name – ferox – refers to its exaggerated reputation for ferocity.
