Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle:
The Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle – also called the Atlantic Ridley Sea Turtle – is one of the smaller of the extant sea turtle species. It is also the rarest and most critically endangered. It is one of the two species of Lepidochelys, the other being the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle. These aquatic reptiles usually grow to be about 24–35 inches (60–90 centimeters) long and weighing roughly 100 pounds (45 kilograms.) The Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle is found in the western Atlantic Ocean from New Jersey in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south. They occasionally can be found as far east as Ireland and the UK. Like other sea turtles they are omnivorous and will eat various invertebrates such as mollusks, crustaceans, jellyfish, seaweed, and sea urchins. They will also feed on algae and seaweed. They are the only species of sea turtles that have breeding grounds in the Gulf of Mexico.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle was completed on 12.29.2012. This is the second to last of the extant species of sea turtles. I looked at dozens of reference photos but few exist that shows one swimming. So I created the sketch based on several different images. I had thought that this was the last extant species of sea turtle, but only today I learned about the Flatback Sea Turtle that I hopefully will be completing in the near future.
