There are over one-hundred species of Kingfishers in the world. They are found on all continents except for Antarctica. Most species live in tropical regions near the equator. The largest of the Kingfishers is the Laughing Kookaburra, which is native to the eucalyptus forests of eastern Australia, with the females weighing up to one pound and growing to 18 inches in length.
