Mammals of Africa Poster

Africa boasts the world’s highest mammalian diversity with over 1,100 species, including iconic “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo), giraffes, hippos, and over 216 primate species. The continent is defined by unique evolutionary groups like Afrotheria (elephants, aardvarks, hyraxes) alongside widespread savannah herbivores and predators.

Africa has a wide range of natural environments, including savannas, rainforests, shrublands, Afromontane highlands, coastal zones, islands and expansive wetlands.
