Patch-Nosed Salamander – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Patch-Nosed Salamander:
The Patch-Nosed Salamander is a lungless salamander native to the streams of Georgia and South Carolina. It is the only extant member of the genus Urspelerpes. They are very small – only about 2 inches long (5cm). The name comes from the yellow patch found on the nose. Generally males are more colorful than the females. Its known range is small, having been identified in only a few counties in the USA. The name Urspelerpes means “archaic” (ur) and “cave creeper” (spelerpes) in Greek. The binominal name “brucei” honors Richard Bruce, who is a professor at Western Carolina University.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Patch-Nosed Salamander was completed on 2.23.2014. Several years ago I started cultivating relationships with some talented wildlife photographers I came into contact with on the Flickr.com website. One of the photographers I found was Todd Pierson, who was particularly active in getting photos of “herps” (reptiles and amphibians.) This drawing of a Patch-Nosed Salamander was requested by Todd, and I was happy to repay him with this small gesture.
