Information about the Royal Grammas or Fairy Basslets:
The Royal Gramma or Fairy Basslet is a small and colorful fish native to the tropical coral reefs of the western Atlantic Ocean. They generally only grow to be about 3 inches long (8 cm.) The fish generally feeds on zooplankton and very small crustaceans. It also serves as a “cleaner fish” to larger animals such as sea turtles. The Royal Gramma is much prized by aquarists, as they have a very peaceful nature, do well in captivity and get along with most other fish.

Artist’s notes:
The Royal Grammas or Fairy Basslets was completed on 12.5.2014. There are times when I am simply amazed at the coloration of an animal or fish.I was doing some research on the marine life in the Caribbean Ocean when I learned about the Royal Gramma. What lovely colorations of a Royal Blue transitioning into a golden yellow. I had to decide if one or two fish would be more visually pleasing, and ended up with the pair as you see now.
