Songbirds of Sonoma County Poster
Sonoma County is located in the San Francisco Bay Area’s North Bay, about 45 minutes north of San Francisco. In the county are several different natural environments, including redwood forests, coastal prairies, oak savannas, rivers, estuaries, and beaches. These areas provide excellent habitat for many different species of songbird. Unlike other birds, songbirds have a highly developed syrinx with complex sets of internal muscles. These muscles allow them to control different parts of the syrinx independently, enabling the production of two sounds at once or rapidly changing notes to create complex, musical melodies.
For more information on Sonoma County songbird’s visit: National Audubon Society, Golden Gate Bird Alliance , and iNaturalist as they offer guides, species lists, and identification tips.
The Songbirds of Sonoma County poster features scientifically accurate illustrations of over twenty species of the state’s native and migrant songbirds. The artistic design is complete with both common and scientific names. The poster is shipped in a sturdy 2″ mailing tube with plastic endcaps. The posters can be signed or customized by the artist upon request.
