Stingrays are cartilaginous fish which are related to sharks. There are roughly 220 identified species in 8 families and 29 genera. There are both freshwater and saltwater species. Stingrays prey on other fish, mollusks, crustaceans, and invertebrates. As of 2013, 45 species have been listed as vulnerable or endangered by the IUCN.
