Artist’s notes:
The Larger Pacific Striped Octopus was completed on 9.25.2013. These charming and beautiful cephalopods have taken up residence at the California Academy of Science, in the hallowed halls of the Steinhart Aquarium. I had the urge to draw this octopus knowing it was only recently discovered – 1991 I believe – and also because it has mentioned in the media many time recently for it’s curious behavior, so unlike most other octopus we know. The drawing is based on a photo by Dan Hershman and was used with his permission.
