Green-Winged Teal – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Green-Winged Teal:
The Green-Winged Teal – is the smallest of the dabbling ducks and member of the family Anatidae. It is a common and widely distributed bird native to nearly the entire continent of North America. Like many other ducks the males and females for much of the year look quite different, although in the non-breeding season the males and females tend to look more similar. The Green-Winged Teal prefers sheltered wetlands, such as bogs and swamps. They feed by “dabbling” for plant matter at or just below the surface of the water. This is a fairly noisy species, and the male has a very clear whistle, whereas the female has more of a muted quack.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Green-Winged Teal was completed on 6.8.2014. This is a lovely duck – I was really struck by the wonderful coloration on the head and wings. Of course, it’s always something of a challenge when drawing a duck, whether to show it in flight. I ended up finding a great reference photo by “Gail Loves Hockey” on Flickr and she graciously allowed me to use it to create this drawing. Although the bird is clearly landing, I decided to go with a simple sky blue background so the animal would stand out more.
