The Northern Harrier (Circus hudsonius) is a slender, owl-like hawk known for its low, buoyant flight over open grasslands and marshes. They use their excellent hearing and sight to hunt small mammals and birds. Males are gray and the females brown, and juveniles have a reddish color. they build ground nests, practice polygyny (one male, multiple females), and are threatened by habitat loss, despite their widespread range.
