Description

The Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is North America’s most common large hawk, known for its broad, soaring wings, distinctive red tail and a classic harsh cry. These birds of prey hunt small mammals, birds, and reptiles in open country, forests, and even cities, often perching high on trees or poles to spot prey. They will catch and hold their prey with their powerful talons. They are highly adaptable living in many different types of natural and urban environments, and are often seen riding the thermals (a rising column of warm air, caused by the sun unevenly heating the Earth’s surface).  They build sturdy nests in tall trees. Like other similar species, the Red-Tailed Hawk is diurnal, meaning they hunt during the day.

The Red-Tailed Hawk poster is shipped in a sturdy 2″ mailing tube with plastic endcaps. It will look great on the walls of any room and is a must for any lover of bird art. The artwork can be signed by the artist or custom text added upon request.

The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
