White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are common North American herbivores known for their distinctive white tail, which they raise like a flag when alarmed. Their diet changes with the seasons, including plants, acorns, corn, and other nuts. In winter, they eat bark, buds, and twigs. They have reddish-brown fur in summer and grayish-brown fur in winter, and are most active at dawn and dusk. These deer are excellent swimmers and runners, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, and can leap over 8-foot barriers.
