Artist’s notes:
The line art illustration of the Arizona Ridge-Nosed Rattlesnake was completed on 5.17.2012. I had, for some time, scaled back my illustrations of snakes, as I had drawn dozens and was focusing more on other animal types. But then a few weeks ago I started in on a project, which was to draw every official “state” animal of the US. When I came to Arizona, I has assumed the state reptile would be the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. I was wrong, and ended up creating this drawing, which, while very difficult and time consuming to complete, turned out fairly well I feel. The drawing is based on a photo by Jack Goldfarb.
