Information about the Red-Footed Falcon:
The Red-Footed Falcon is a medium to small-sized falcon native to Europe, Asia and Africa where it winters. Adults grow to be about 11-13.5 inches long (65-75 cm) The males and females have much different coloration with the males being almost all blue-gray colored, and the females have orange and white part on their heads and bodies and the wings are blue-gray. Despite being a very widely distributed falcon, habit loss, illegal hunting and loss of hunting grounds have caused the birds numbers to plummet and they are close to becoming endangered.

Artist’s notes:
The Red-Footed Falcon was completed on 12.14.2014. Birds of prey are a favorite subject to draw. When I decided to put together a collage I did a little research to try and fine some species not native to North America. I discovered the wonderful Red-Footed Falcon. My Flickr friend Eyal Bartov captured an excellent photo of this bird and gave me permission to create a drawing based on it.
