The Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) also called the Firefox, Red Cat-Bear or Lesser Panda – is native to the Himalayas in Bhutan as well as south-western China. They are a little bigger than a domestic house cat. They are critically endangered and it is believed there are less than 10,00 in the wild. The Red Panda is a herbivore and, like the Giant Panda, most of it’s diet consists of bamboo shoots. Despite the name it is not closely related the the Panda however.
