The Blue Jay is a medium-sized passerine bird native to the eastern half of North America. It is a member of the family Corvidae. They are generally about 9-12 inches long weighing roughly 3-5 ounces. They are aggressive, opportunistic birds which have been expanding their range for several decades, and are now creating hybrid animals by mating with Stellar Jay's of the Western US. The Blue Sea star is a member of the family Ophiothricidae. It is found in the warm tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific. While they are called Blue Sea Stars, there is a good deal of color variation, and they can be aqua, purple or even orange. They grow to be about 12 inches in diameter (30 cm). They are usually found on the sea floor, not too far from the shoreline. The Blue Sea Star is predated on by various animals, such as pufferfish, shrimp, and sea anemones. This sea star does very well in captivity and due to it's beautiful coloration it is often kept in captivity by aquarists. Due to this, along with the use of the sea star for souvenirs to sell to tourists, their numbers have declined in the wild.
