Chestnut-Backed Chickadee – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Chestnut-Backed Chickadee:

The Chestnut-Backed Chickadee is a small passerine bird native to the low elevation coniferous and mixed coniferous/deciduous forests. It is also commonly seen in backyards at birdfeeders. They can be found from Alaska in the north, all the way through much of the Pacific Coast to southwestern California. They are small - even for a chickadee - only 4.5–4.9 inches long (11.5–12.5 cm) weighing about 0.30–0.44 ounces (8.5–12.6 g.) They will eat insects and other small invertebrates found in the foliage, as well as seeds, fruits and will readily eat food offered at birdfeeders, and are especially drawn to suet. The scientific name changed from "Parus rufescens" to "Poecile rufescens" representing the belief that the bird is it's own specific genus. Chimney Swift – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Chimney Swift:

The Chimney Swift is a member of the Icteridae family, which are the swifts. Their name comes from their preference to build their nests in the chimneys of the eastern US and Canada. While they spend their summers in North America, they will migrate thousands of miles to spend the winters in the northwestern parts of South America. They are smaller birds, being about 4.7-5.9 inches long (12-15 cm) with a wingspan of about 11-12 inches. They weigh roughly .6-1.1 ounces (17-30 grams.) These birds are highly gregarious and are often observed in massive flocks, usually in and around the chimney in where they build their nests. While the species is thought to number around 15 million, they are considered threatened because their population has dropped precipitously over the last few decades. Chimpanzee – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Chimpanzee:

Chimpanzee, also called simply as chimp, is the common name for the two extant species of ape in the genus Pan where the Congo River forms the boundary between the native habitat of the two species. Chimpanzees are members of the Hominidae family, along with gorillas, humans, and orangutans. Chimpanzee are thought to have split from human evolution about 6 million years ago and thus the two chimpanzee species are the closest living relatives to humans. Chimpanzees will make tools and use them to acquire foods and for social displays. These apes have sophisticated hunting strategies requiring cooperation, influence and rank; they are status conscious, manipulative and capable of deception; they can learn to use symbols and understand aspects of human language including some relational syntax, concepts of number and numerical sequence. Recent studies and observations have shown they are capable of spontaneous planning for a future state or event. Chinese Alligator – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Chinese Alligator:

The Chinese Alligator is one of only two species of alligator. While its appearance is very similar to the only other living member of the genus, the American alligator, there are a few differences. Usually this species is smaller than the American species, and an adult only reaches a length of 5 feet (1.5 m) and a mass of 80 pounds (36 kg). Unlike the American alligator, the Chinese alligator is fully armored; even the belly is armored, which is a feature of only a few crocodilians. The Chinese alligator is class one endangered species and listed as a CITES Appendix I species, which puts extreme restrictions on its trade and exportation throughout the world. The Chinese alligator is mainly endangered because of habitat pollution and reduction as their distribution areas are turned into rice paddies. Extermination is also an issue, as farmers consider them to be a menace. Overall, the Chinese alligator lives in a subtropical, temperate region. The Chinese alligator's usual habitat was in places of low-elevation and freshwater sources. This includes marshes, lakes, streams, and ponds. Wetlands are extremely important to the Chinese alligators due to the biodiversity that is within them. Despite conservation efforts, it is very likely this species will go extinct in the wild soon, and the only living specimens will be in captivity.
