Gelada Baboon – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Gelada Baboon:
The Gelada Baboon called the gelada baboon and bleeding-heart baboon, is a species of Old World monkey found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, with large populations in the Semien Mountains. Theropithecus is derived from the Greek root words for "beast-ape." Like its close relatives the baboons (genus Papio), it is largely terrestrial, spending much of its time foraging in grasslands. Geladas are found only in the high grassland of the deep gorges of the central Ethiopian plateau. They live in elevations 1,800–4,400 m above sea level, using the cliffs for sleeping and montane grasslands for foraging. These grasslands have widely spaced trees and also contain bushes and dense thickets. They display threats by flipping their upper lips back on their nostrils to display their teeth and gums, and by pulling back their scalps to display the pale eyelids. Gemsbok – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Gemsbok:
The Gemsbok also known as a Gemsbuck, is a large antelope found in southern east Africa. The name is derived from the Dutch name of the male chamois, which is a horned ungulate that lives in alpine regions of mainland Europe. However, the chamois and the Gemsbok are not related. They are widely hunted and their horns are prized trophies, but unlike many of the large mammals in Africa they are not considered endangered. Gemsbok typically live in small herds of about ten to forty, which consist of a dominant male, a few non-dominant males, and females. Gentoo Penguin – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Gentoo Penguin:
Gentoo penguins are members of the Spheniscidae family. They are large penguins (only the Emperor and King are larger) with a weight of about 19 pounds (8.5 kg) growing to about 20-36 inches tall (51-90 cm) They are the fastest swimmers of the penguins, reaching the impressive speed of about 22 MPH (36 kph) The origin of the name is unclear. Like other penguins, Gentoos feed mostly on crustaceans, such as krill although they will also eat fish. They live in and around islands in the Antarctic region, but their main colony is in the Falkland Islands, where there are about 300,000 breeding pairs. The nests are made on rocky shores. In building a nest Gentoos pile stones, grass and sticks into a circle where the eggs will then be laid. These birds ca be quite aggressive and occasionally fights will break out over stones or other building material, which they will steal from one another.
