Greater Rhea – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Greater Rhea:

It is a large flightless bird, weighing about 50-55 pounds (23-25 kg.) It the largest bird native to South America. It has in recent years established a population in Germany after being introduced there some years ago. The Greater Rhea is omnivorous, feeding on seeds and fruits when available, but will also eat larger insects and invertebrates such as scorpions. It will also eat small lizards and rodents, even other birds on occasion. They are near the top of the food chain and have few predators that feed on them. Cougars, Jaguars will attack adults, and smaller animals will feed on the eggs if the nest is not protected.
