The King Vulture is a large South and Central American bird of the New World family Cathartidae. This vulture lives primarily in tropical lowland forests ranging from southern Mexico to Argentina. It is the only living member of the genus Sarcoramphus - all others are extinct and we know of them only from the fossil record. Like all vultures this bird feeds on carrion. But unlike some other vultures it has not been known to kill sick or dying animals for food. Not including the two species of condors it is the largest of the New World Vultures with an overall length ranging from 27–32 inches and a wingspan on average of about 4–6.5 feet. Its weighs about 6-10 pounds. Information about the Lark Bunting:
The Lark Bunting is medium-sized sparrow, and the only member of the genus Calamospiza. It is generally found in the Great Plains of North America, from central Canada southwards to most of Texas and into Mexico. The habitat they prefer is prairies, meadows, brushy areas sometime with sagebush and arid desert regions. Both sexes grow to about 5.5–7.1 inches in length (14–18 centimeters) with a wingspan of about 11 inches (28 centimeters) and weight 1.1–1.8 ounces ( 30–51 grams) When in breeding colors, the males are a dramatic black and brown with streaks of white on the wings and body. The females are notably more drab, being colored subdued shades of prey and brown and when not in breeding colors the males look much closer in appearance to the females. The state of Colorado officially selected this animal to be the state bird in 1931. The Lark Sparrow is a member of the family Emberizidae, and the only member of the genus Chondestes. This passerine bird breeds in southern Canada, much of the United States, and northern Mexico. It is much less common in the east, where its range is contracting. Young Lark Sparrows are duller, and the underparts are streaked. These birds forage on the ground or in low bushes. They mainly eat seeds, but insects, including grasshoppers are also eaten in the breeding season. They form flocks on migration or in winter. The breeding habitat is a variety of open habitats including grasslands and cultivation.
