Rusty Blackbird – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Rusty Blackbird:

The Rusty Blackbird is a medium-sized blackbird native to Canada and the United States. It spends the summers around the Arctic Circle and the winters in the southeastern part of the lower 48 states. They are generally found in temperate coniferous forests when they are breeding, and then migrate into ponds and wetlands when the seasons change. They eat mostly insects, foraging for them among the leaf litter on the forest floor, flipping over leaves and aquatic vegetation looking for insects and small fish. It will also feed on plant matter such as seeds. Due to habitat loss, the number of the Rusty Blackbird have been declining for many years, and the INCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) considers them "vulnerable." According to the North American Breeding Bird Society their numbers may have plummeted to 85%–98%. Sandhill Crane – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Sandhill Crane:

The Sandhill Crane is a large bird native to North America and small areas of Siberia. Their common name comes from the habitat found in areas like the Platte River, which is an important stopover during their migration. They are very large birds with a wingspan of 6-8 feet. They are able to soar and use thermals in the way that birds of prey such as hawks do. This maximizes their flight distance and minimizes the effort and energy spent. These birds prefer open marshes, bogs and wetlands to feed and breed. They eat mostly grains and seeds, but will also feed on insect, small invertebrates and vertebrates. Like other large birds, the Sandhill Crane will fly south for the winter. During this time flocks of them can number in the tens of thousands. At the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, which is about 100 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico is one of the best places to view the large flocks. There is an annual Sandhill Crane Festival in November. Information about the Scarlet Ibis:

The Scarlet Ibis is a species of shorebird that inhabits the mud flats, estuaries, bogs and swamps of northern South America as well as the islands of Trinidad and Tobago - where it is the national bird. They feed on insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, crustaceans and some plant matter such as algae. They are medium-sized with a body length of about 22 inches and a wingspan of 38 inches. Like some other birds of the tropics they do not migrate. As with flamingoes the bright scarlet coloring of the bird comes from carotene found in the crustaceans on which it feeds.
