It can grow to a length of 3-4 inches long (22-35 mm) They range over much of southern Canada and the US. Like other wolf spiders, H. carolinensis has eight eyes that are arranged in rows of three. The middle row has two very large and prominent eyes, the bottom row has four smaller eyes and the top has two medium sized eyes. Their eyes are good for night vision as when they are hunting.
