The Indian Gaur - sometimes called the Indian Bison - is a large member of the bovine family native to the evergreen forests or semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests of much of Southeast Asia and the Indian Sub-continent. This animal has a head-and-body length of about 8.2-10.8 feet (250 to 330 cm) with a tail about 28 to 41 inches long (70 to 105 cm) An adult Gaur stands about 5.41 to 7.2 feet at the shoulder (165 to 220 cm) and on average weighs between 1,400 to 2,200 pounds (650 to 1,000 kg) Occasionally a large bull can weigh over 3,000 pounds (1,500 kg) Males are about one-fourth larger and heavier than females. They are herbivores, feeding on grasses, plants and flowers. Due to poaching and habitat loss the Gaur has been placed as endangered or vulnerable lists by some conservation organizations. The Indian Leopard subspecies widely distributed on the Indian subcontinent. It's classified as Near Threatened by IUCN since 2008 because populations have declined following habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching for the illegal trade of skins and body parts, and persecution due to conflict situations, these big cats are distributed all over India, in Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and parts of Pakistan. In the Himalayas they are sympatric with snow leopards up to 5,200 meters (17,100 ft) above sea level. Indian leopards inhabit tropical rain forests, dry deciduous forests, temperate forests and northern coniferous forests but do not occur in the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans. Indian Wolf is a subspecies of grey wolf which ranges from Israel to the Indian Subcontinent. Its habits are similar to those of other grey wolf subspecies, though the Indian wolf generally lives in smaller packs rarely exceeding 6-8 individuals, and is relatively less vocal, having rarely been known to howl. It tends to breed from mid-October to late December, and whelp in holes or ravines. It typically preys on antelopes, rodents, and hares. Information about the Indochinese Tiger:
The Indochinese Tiger is a subspecies of tiger native to the the secluded, hilly tropical jungles of Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Panthera tigris corbetti is named in honor of Jim Corbett - who was a British hunter, conservationist and author. It is a highly endangered animal with a wild population estimated to be around only 1200-1800 individuals. The average male Indochinese tiger measures about nine feet long (2.55 to 2.85 meters) weighing about 330-430 pounds (150 to 195 kilograms), although larger animals can tip the scales at over 500 pounds (250 kg). The tiger's skull measures between 13-14 inches (319 to 365 millimeters) in length. Like all tiger species they are threatened by poaching and habitat loss, although the governments of some of the Southeast Asian nations have set aside some natural areas to help protect these endangered animals.
