Information about the Indochinese Tiger:
The Indochinese Tiger is a subspecies of tiger native to the the secluded, hilly tropical jungles of Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Panthera tigris corbetti is named in honor of Jim Corbett - who was a British hunter, conservationist and author. It is a highly endangered animal with a wild population estimated to be around only 1200-1800 individuals. The average male Indochinese tiger measures about nine feet long (2.55 to 2.85 meters) weighing about 330-430 pounds (150 to 195 kilograms), although larger animals can tip the scales at over 500 pounds (250 kg). The tiger's skull measures between 13-14 inches (319 to 365 millimeters) in length. Like all tiger species they are threatened by poaching and habitat loss, although the governments of some of the Southeast Asian nations have set aside some natural areas to help protect these endangered animals. The Jaguar ranges from the southwestern United States to Argentina. It is the only member of the Panthera genus native to the Americas. This large predatory feline live in a variety of habitats, from dense jungle and scrubland to shoreline forests. The Jaguar is one of the smaller big cats, measuring about 27 - 30 inches (68 -76 cm) from the ground to their shoulders, a body length of somewhere between 3.5 - 6.25 feet (1.1 - 1.9 m) weighing about 190 -300 pounds (57-113 kg) with the females being somewhat smaller. Jaguars are revered in many indigenous American cultures. The Maya believed that the Jaguar helped the sun to travel under the earth at night, ensuring its new rising every morning. Jaguarundi – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Jaguarundi:
The Jaguarundi - also called the Eyra Cat - is a smaller-sized member of the feline family native to a variety of habitats from Mexico, through much of Central America and most of South America. It can be found in rainforest, lowland brush areas and grasslands, usually not far from running water. In generally the cat has a total length (not including tail) of 21-30 inches (53 to 77 cm) with a tail of about 12 to 24 inches (31 to 60 cm) An adult Jaguarundi usually weighs in at about 7.7 to 20 punds (3.5 to 9.1 kg.) They are not usually much larger than a house cat. The cat's coat can be either a red-orange or charcoal gray - these were once thought to represent two different species, but it is now considered to be one. Despite habitat loss and hunting, these cats are not considered endangered and in fact there is some belief that the animal is expanding it's range further into North America. The Japanese Serow is a goat antelope found in found in dense woodland in Japan, primarily in northern and central Honshu. Just a few decades ago, the serow had been hunted to near extinction. In 1955 the Japanese government declared the animal a "special national monument." Since it was protected, the species has rebounded to where the population is stable and it is not considered at risk. Adults grow to be about 28-33 inches tall at the shoulder (70-85 cm.) There is little difference in the appearance of males and females. These animals are mostly active during the day, feeding on coniferous leaves, plant shoots, and acorns.
