The Mountain Zebras is an endangered equine native to the mountain slopes, open grasslands, woodlands of south-western Angola, Namibia and South Africa. There are two known subspecies: the Harmann's Mountain Zebra and Cape Mountain Zebra (the drawing is of the Harmann's) but there is some discussion that these zebras should be considered to be separate species. These large horses have a body length (including heads) of 6.9 to 8.9 feet) (2.1 to 2.7 meters). Shoulder height ranges from 3.6-4.9 feet) (1.1 to 1.5 meters.) Weight is usually about 450-820 pounds (204 to 372 kilograms.) These animal were once common in their native areas, but due to habitat loss and poaching for their hides they are now considered vulnerable by conservation groups. These deer prefer "edge" habitats where trees meet open grassy areas or meadows. They are rarely found very far from water or areas where they can feed. An adult male or "buck" generally grows to weigh from 150-300 pounds. The female "does" weigh less, on average about 100-175 pounds. The Musk Ox is part of the Bovidae family that is native to the arctic regions of North America and Greenland. It has been successfully re-introduced into areas of Alaska, where the population was wiped out during the last 19th century. They are large animals, standing 3-4 feet tall and weighing up to 700 pounds. Musk Ox are social and tend to live in large herds of roughly 10-20 individuals, but in larger herds that number can be as high as 70. Muskrat – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Muskrat:
The Muskrat is the only species in the genus Ondatra. It is a medium-sized semi-aquatic rodent native to the the swamps, bogs and other wetland areas. Like the American Beaver, it too has an effect on the ecology of the areas in which it lives. Despite the name, it is not a "true rat" but rather a relative. It is more closely related to lemmings and voles. Adult Muskrat grow to be about 16–28 inches long (40–70 cm) - almost half of that tail and weighing roughly 1.3–4.4 pounds (0.6–2 kg.) These small mammals are often found in the habitat as beavers, and they also have many of the same behaviors, such as felling trees by chewing through them and building dens. The Muskrat is an especially adaptable animal, and will often exploit areas altered by humans (canals, drainage ditches) to make homes. While they are only native to parts of North America, they have been introduced into much of the entire continent and Europe and have established themselves in these areas. Nine-Banded Armadillo – Signed Fine Art Print

The Nine-Banded Armadillo is a small mammal indigenous to areas in North, South and Central America making it one of the most widespread of the armadillo family. It's mostly active at night and is generally solitary. This armadillo can be found in a wide range of habitats including rainforest, grasslands and dry scrub. The name comes from a Spanish word which refers to it's armor-like covering. If startled the armadillo can jump three feet straight up in the air. These mammals are insectivorous feeding mainly on ants, termites and other small invertebrates. Unlike many animals the Nine-Banded Armadillo's range is expanding and they are expected to continue to move north and east up from their current range of the southeastern part of the US. The Nine-banded armadillo was named the state mammal of Texas in 1995.
