American Lion – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Lion:
The American Lion (also called the Naegele's giant jaguar or American cave lion) is an extinct mammal that was native to the North American continent, going extinct roughly . It is a member of the family Felidae. It was native to northwestern South America during the Pleistocene epoch (0.34 million years ago to 11,000 years ago), existing for approximately 0.33 million years. It has been shown by genetic analysis to be a sister lineage to the Eurasian cave lion (Panthera leo spelaea or P. spelaea). It was one of the largest types of cat ever to have existed, slightly larger than the Early Middle Pleistocene primitive cave lion, P. leo fossilis and about 1/4 larger than the modern African lion The head-body length of the American lion is estimated to have been 5 ft 3 in–8 ft 2 inches (1.6–2.5 meters) and it would have stood 4 feet (1.2 meters) at the shoulder. While large, it was not the largest predator at the time - which was the Short-Faced Bear. It was not as heavy as the Saber-Tooth Cat, it was generally larger. Approximately one hundred specimens of American lions have been recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits, in Los Angeles, so their body structure is well known. Unlike their African relatives, the climate they lived in was colder and therefore like modern mountain lions they took refuge in caves. They are thought to have gone extinct about 10-15,000 years ago. American Mastodon – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Mastodon:
Mastodons are extinct mammals from the order Proboscidea. They are believed to have lived up until about 11,000 years ago. Just exactly why they went extinct is a matter of debate, but it seems a number of factors, such as climate change, hunting by primitive humanoid races and perhaps even a small meteor strike may have factored into their demise. While they were alive, the Mastodon inhabited much of the world, including what is now Asia, Africa, Europe and North and Central America. In recent years, there has been much talk about the possibility of resurrecting the species, because scientists have worked out part of the genetic structure of the animal. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

American Paddlefish – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Paddlefish:
The American Paddlefish is a large freshwater fish and member of the order Acipenseriformes, which are primitive ray-finned fish. It is also called the Mississippi Paddlefish or Spoonbill. They are found in the slow moving waters of the Mississippi River drainage system. They were once also found in Lake Erie, but it appears they have been extirpated from there. This very large Chondrostean fish can grow to a length of about 7 feet (220 centimeters.) It is one of two living species of paddlefish, although the other - the Chinese Paddlefish - is likely extinct. The American Paddlefish was once common in it's native environment, however due to habit loss and overfishing, the species is now considered vulnerable in most areas. It remains a popular sports fish and in areas where the populations are stable. American Painted Lady Butterfly – Signed Fine Art Print

The American Painted Lady - or Amercan Lady - is a true brush-foot butterfly found throughout North America. They are usually found in open places with low vegetation including dunes, meadows, parks, vacant lots, forest edges. The wing spread of adults is 1.75 to 2.40 inches. The upper surface of the wings is orange-brown with black margins. The front wings have white spots on the outer third. The lower side of the front wings has a bright pink area. Part of the forewing margin is concave — one of the characteristics that distinguishes it from the similar and closely related painted lady, Vanessa cardui (Linnaeus). The lower side of the hind wing has a characteristic "cob-web" pattern and two large eye spots near the margin. By contrast, the painted lady has a row of four smaller eye spots. American Pika – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Pika:
The American Pika is native to the mountains of the western United States and Canada, usually living in large boulder fields at or above the tree line. They are about 6-8 inches long (162 to 216 millimeters) and generally weigh about 6 ounces (170 grams.) Despite looking similar to a mouse, it is more closely related to hares and rabbits. They are herbivores, feeding on a variety of grasses, thistles and sedges. Pikas are active during the day, calling out from the tops of boulders or gathering food. They are the prey for a variety of different animals, so they are extremely cautious, turning tail into their burrows in the rock crevices at the first sign of danger. Due to climate change, pikas are good environmental indicators of the warming planet. Unfortunately, as the earth gets hotter the environments the pika needs to survive is disappearing.
