Information about the Eastern Box Turtle:
Eastern Box Turtles small, terrestrial reptiles native to the grasslands, plains, swamps and forests the eastern United States. Like other box turtles, they have a large domed carapace into which it can retract it's head and limbs when it feels threatened. These turtles have five toes on their front legs and four on the back. They are omnivorous, and prefer vegetation, mushrooms, snails, earthworms and grasshoppers. It is often found near streams and ponds, but rarely enters the water as most of the water they need comes from the food they eat. They are usually about 4.5 inches long and weigh 1-2 pounds. When the shell of the turtle is damaged it can regenerate and repair itself. Because they are slow moving they are often hit by cars when crossing the road. They are extremely long lived and in the wild can live to be over 100 years old. Eastern Indigo Snake – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Eastern Indigo Snake:
The Eastern Indigo Snake - also called the blue indigo snake, black snake, blue gopher snake, and blue bull snake - is native to the flatwoods, hammocks, dry glades, stream bottoms, cane fields, and riparian thickets of southern South Carolina into Florida and west to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. It is notable as it is the longest native snake in North America, generally reaching lengths of over six feet long, with the all-time longest snake on record being nine feet two inches. Females are usually a little smaller than the males. The snake is non-venomous, and will generally avoid contact with humans. If provoked it will bite however. The Eastern Indigo Snake is carnivorous, feeding on frogs, turtles, lizards, toads, small mammals and birds. Due to habitat loss the snake is now federally protected in Georgia and Florida, and it may be extirpated in Alabama. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
