Black Mamba – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Black Mamba:
Black Mambas are highly venomous snakes belonging to the family Elapidae. It is one of four species of the genus Dendroaspis. The other three species are green and arboreal in nature. The Black Mamba is native to the savannas, rocky hills and open woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. The fearsome reputation of Black Mamba is deserved as bites from them, if left untreated, have a mortality rate of 100 percent. (The venom of the other species of mamba are somewhat less deadly.) However, the popular belief that they will attack unprovoked and actually chase humans is not accurate, as these snakes generally will not bite unless provoked. First formally described by Albert Günther in 1864, it is the second-longest venomous snake after the King Cobra, The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94% Buy a Digital Download

Black-Backed Sea Krait – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Black-Banded Sea Krait:
The Black-Banded Sea Krait - also called the Chinese Sea Snake or erabu umi hebi - is a member of the Laticauda genus of sea snakes. It is most commonly found in warm waters of the western Pacific Ocean, usually not far from shore in the coral reefs. Which it shaped like many of the terrestrial species of snake, the tail is flatted with extended skin, spread wide like a fin and this is used to aid in swimming. It is a nocturnal snake and rarely seen during the day. It requires oxygen to breathe, so breaks the surface at least once every six hours. It is too slow to catch fish in a straight chase, so it hunts for fish hiding in the coral. The bite is highly venomous and paralyzes the prey. Females lay their eggs on land. Generally, the species is found in Fiji, southern Japan and Singapore. Their venom is ten times stronger than that of a cobra, making them extremely dangerous. But unless this snake is cornered or feels otherwise threatened by humans it will not bite.
