Pickerel Frog – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Pickerel Frog:
The Pickerel Frog is a medium sized amphibian native to the eastern parts of US and Canada. They're found in cool wooded areas nearby ponds, lakes and slow moving streams. They are often found in grassy fields during the summer months. The Pickerel Frog is sometimes confused with the Leopard Frog, but the Pickerel's spots are generally larger, and in two rows on their backs whereas the Leopard's are more scattered and irregular. These frogs are carnivores feeding on insects and other invertebrates. The Pickerel Frog is believed to have a poison that can kill other frogs, but is harmless to humans. The Pickerel Frog will protect itself from potential predators by giving off a poisonous chemical. This chemical can irritate humans and can even kill captive animals forced to share living space with this frog. Pig Frog – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Pig Frog:
The Pig Frog - also sometimes called the Lagoon Frog or Southern Bullfrog - is an aquatic amphibian found on the edges of lakes, swamps and marshes. It is a member of the family Ranidae or "true frogs." They get their name from their distinctive pointed and pig like nose, along with the distinctive call which sounds like the grunt of a pig. These amphibians are common around the edges of water, in lakes, ponds and ditches, or floating in shallow water. They are mostly active at night. They feed on nearly anything they can swallow such as invertebrates, crustaceans, fish and amphibians. Despite the overall decline of many of the world's amphibians, the Pig Frog's numbers seem fairly stable and they're common in their range. The legs of these frogs are considered delicacies to some, and they are often hunted at night using flashlights and lanterns. Red Hills Salamander – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Red Hills Salamander:
The Red Hills Salamander is a larger terrestrial salamander native to a very small range of southern Alabama, in an area of only about 50-60,000 acres in a 60-mile narrow belt between the Conecuh and Alabama rivers. They usually grow to about 10 inches long (25 centimeters.) This amphibian wasn't officially discovered until 1960. Much of the area that the salamander lives in is owned by paper companies, which are systematically clear-cutting the forest and slowly extirpating this salamander from the few areas they exist. For this reason the amphibian is considered threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN.) In 2000 the Alabama state legislature officially made the Red Hills Salamander the state amphibian. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
